JUHO VAINIO FOUNDATION INVITES GRANT APPLICATIONS FOR 2026
The Foundation awards grants for research and health-promoting projects that promote public health and healthy lifestyles in Finland. The areas of support include, in particular, healthy exercise, health-promoting nutrition, combating health problems caused by smoking, alcohol and other intoxicants, promoting mental health and promoting environmental health. Grants can also be allocated to research on health problems caused by housing and buildings.
The Foundation mainly awards personal grants for individual work, especially for doctoral dissertations and work as postdoctoral researchers, as well as project grants for groups. Grants for individual work are typically awarded for a period of six (6) months or one year. A previously received grant may be extended upon a new application.
Grants may be allocated to research and projects on all topics consistent with the Foundation's purpose. The Foundation wishes to support researchers, in particular at the beginning of their research careers.
The Foundation is also preparing to award grants to Ukrainian researchers.
The application period for all Foundation grants awarded for 2026 is September 2025, i.e. September 1-30, 2025. The application period ends on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at 24:00.
Applications must be submitted to the grant system available on the Foundation's website. The application or part of it can also be submitted in English. The Foundation will not accept applications in any other format or applications submitted after the application period.
